EVENTS

These are the events held throughout the academic year in RSP Youth!
Beyond regular sessions, we hope to give our members a holistic experience through various opportunities to interact, upskill and develop themselves.

*Disclaimer: Some of these events and photos were taken during covid-19, in view of the SMM at that point of time.

Other events and photos were taken prior to covid-19.

YOUTH ANNUAL APPRECIATION DINNER (AAD)

An annual event to appreciate the efforts put forth by our members towards influencing and impacting a change upon the youths that they worked with in the past year, and to foster bonding between members across centres and batches in RSP (Youth). Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a new mode of conduct was introduced as participants came together both virtually and in-person to celebrate the occasion in midst of the pandemic. Through interactive games and activities, it allowed for insightful conversations between the members of varying centres, which formed the main highlights of the event.

YOUTH VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION PROGRAMME (VOP)

A platform for existing members and alumni to share their experiences with newly recruited members, and to promote a better understanding of RSP(Youth) and WSC through various opportunities for members to interact within and across centres. This event allows the members to first have a deeper understanding of what WSC and RSP Youth objectives are, as well as setting collective goals of what can be done moving forward as individual centres under RSP Youth.

CANVASSING

To raise awareness and funds in supporting our activities under each centre in order to provide a more holistic experience for both our service users and volunteers. Moreover, we hope to empower our volunteers to take part in raising funds so that they can plan for more activities and take more ownership to further enrich the youths through further opportunities thereafter.

WORKSHOPS

As part of our new initiative, We value the need for our volunteers to understand what they are contributing weekly to service users and its impacts. Upskilling and volunteer development will be needed to keep us up to date of the approach and needs towards the service users.
Workshops and Trainings are introduced to achieve these objectives.

1. RSP (Youth) x NIE Trainee Teachers' Club (TTC)

Through this event, in the respective roles of being a volunteer and teacher-to-be, there were exchanges to learn about the main approach of engagement through education. It provides our members the opportunity to gain insights about ways to motivate different types of student learners, learn about the biases behind decision making processes and better understanding their motivations as a volunteer and teacher.

2. SSI Training Course: Coaching and Mentoring Youths Effectively

Partaking in a 2 day training session on learning how to coach and mentor youths effectively presented through various concepts and models.

AD-HOC
VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES

A platform for RSP Youth volunteers to have more opportunities to serve the community, especially in times of need during Covid-19 Pandemic. This helps to widen the perspectives of volunteering for RSP Youth volunteers, not limiting contributions to just within centre activities. It provides us as a stepping stone as well in building long term partnerships with potential service organisations.

WELFARE PACK & OUTINGS

Volunteers are the utmost importance to the portfolio. Without them, events cannot be run and new ideas cannot be improved. Therefore, in RSP Youth, we try to strike a balance between serving the community and appreciating our volunteers’ efforts. Outings and Welfare initiatives are planned so that volunteers also get a chance to have fun with other RSP youth members in a less formal setting, to unwind from the hectic schedules and session responsibilities, providing them chances to forge more memories with each other.
